Boat Ramp With Manual Transmission
For all those people who have a stick shift and love boat ramps!. Boat launch/retrieve with manual transmission -need advise i've recently changed tow vehicles for my fishing rig (lund pro v 1775)from a automatic to a manual transmission. i expected some adjustment but i'm really struggling depending on how steep the ramp is.. I’ve put it on pretty aggressive boat ramps and it goes and out perfectly. my boats weighs in at about 600 pounds. some people will say you need four wheel drive to get out of boat ramps..
Boat launching / retrieval question - manual transmission my jkur is still new to me (1500 miles), so i might still just be getting used to the clutch, but i always seem to rev the motor too high and end up slipping the clutch while pulling the boat and/or trailer out of the water to keep the jeep and trailer from ending up in the lake.. When retrieving the boat with a manual transmission, set the emergency brake and leave it. get the boat all loaded on the trailer and ready to pull out. with the emergency brake still enabled, put it in 1st and s-l-o-w-l-y start letting out the clutch as you give it gas.. Shift the transmission into park on automatic transmissions and neutral on manual transmissions. shift the transmission into gear and release the parking brake. release the foot brakes and move the tow vehicle uphill to free the wheel chocks. line the boat and tow vehicle up with the ramp in a straight line..
