It’s hard for any fiberglass boat to beat that classic look and feel of a varnished mahogany boat. but it’s hard for a wooden boat to be the multisport vehicle a modern fiberglass model can be. wood has come a long way, baby, but it’s still going to require more maintenance than fiberglass.. Their process was to mold the boat under 700 tons pressure, instead of laying up fiberglass on wood , which can become waterlogged and rotten. the floorboards are marine plywood and the seats and binnacle are mahogany.. This boat is absolutely stunning to look at! many who first view this boat can’t tell it is actually a modern fiberglass replica of a 1934 century gentleman’s racer. the mahogany deck is in new condition & shows incredible in the sun! the boat can be inspected in manchester, nh. i have all manuals along with extra keys..
Fiberglass boats are maintenance free. you'll read it and hear it while you're looking at boats, but don't believe a word of it. i suppose in comparison to wooden boats, fiberglass boats might be termed "virtually maintenance free," but you'd still better plan to spend a few weekends to keep that.
