Over many years i have built to iain oughtred’s beautiful designs. some are featured in the pictures here. iain has built up an impressive and varied collection of open and small boat designs over a long career.. Boat plans. here we show the boats for which we do plans and/or suggested hardware lists. they come form the drawing boards of iain oughtred, francois vivier and roger dongray, all of whom have contributed hugely to the idea that boats can be as individual (dare i say characterful?) as their builders..
Iain oughtred’s first boating experience was in his native australia where he spent six years racing 12' centreboard boats like the national gwen 12, designed by charles cunningham. before leaving the country, he built seven boats and won two national championships. he ended up drawing the official plans for the association.. This classy little "auklette"dinghy was recently built and would make a fine yacht tender for the discerning yachtsman. the hull is okkume mahogany and the thwarts and gunwales are sassafras and ash..
